Simtec is proud to be presenting at SEMANT, bringing together experts and professionals from the defence, security, technology, and engineering sectors.
As part of the event programme, Josip Zlatić, Senior Application Engineer at Simtec Croatia, will deliver an oral presentation exploring how multiphysics simulation can help engineers predict and prevent failures in defence electronics before hardware is built.
Joining him at the event will be Chrissa Hatzigiaktsidou, Academic Program Manager at Simtec, representing Simtec and contributing to the exchange of knowledge and expertise with the wider engineering and academic community.
Predicting Failure Before Hardware Exists
Defence electronics must withstand extreme temperatures, vibration, shock, and demanding operational conditions, with little to no tolerance for failure.
Josip’s presentation will demonstrate how an Ansys multiphysics workflow can help engineers predict reliability issues before hardware is built by connecting electrical, thermal, and mechanical analyses with physics-of-failure modelling.
The workflow brings together Ansys HFSS 3D Layout, Icepak, Mechanical, Discovery, and Sherlock to help identify potential failure mechanisms such as solder-joint fatigue, delamination, and component failures.
By bringing multiphysics simulation into the design process, engineers can reduce physical prototyping, shorten qualification cycles, and build greater confidence in the reliability of defence electronics.
